In FERTIGO we are studying two types of crops that can contribute to either improved nitrogen (N) or phosphorus (P) use efficiency of the cropping system. For N, this is done by biological nitrification inhibition (BNI) and for P this is done by enhanced P mobilisation. Read more about these functions here.
We assess the abilities of different plant genotypes to perform these processes in the lab and test their effect in field experiments, in temporary grassland (grazed and non-grazed), as cover/catch crops and intercropped in maize. To design and evaluate our experiments we are much interested in your opinion and plan national events in each partner country (Belgium, Germany, Ireland and United Kingdom). Contact one of our partners if you are interested in attending to our events.
This project is part of the programme of the Green ERA-Hub that has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No. 101056828
The project has partners in four European countries, with different cropping systems in focus. On this website you can read more about the experiments and partners.
